Rachael has a broad knowledge of all aspects of veterinary work but her specific interest lies in sheep and beef, being a sheep and beefie herself. Rachael knows what is going on when and where. Using Animal Health Planners, she can ensure your farm is ticking all the boxes to minimise illness and maximise production.

Rachael Fouhy (BVSc, dist)

Growing up in urban South Africa, Adrian had always assumed he would be a small animal veterinarian. Since moving to Pahiatua in 2019 however, he has discovered a passion for farm animals and the dairy industry and while he still knows his way around the smallies clinic, he now spends most of his time on the farm. In his spare time, Adrian is keen on trout fishing, enjoying various local fishing areas.

Karen has been in mixed practice for many years. She started out in the Waikato and Northland before coming to Pahiatua in the 1990's. Her knowledge is very broad especially in Dairy, Deer, Equines and companion animals. She is a Supervisory Vet for deer velvetting. Karen also has a special interest in birds and is our go-to person for chickens and wildlife. At home, Karen has an avian menagerie which includes the clinic parrot Ollie.

Catherine grew up on a dairy farm in the UK. Following graduation in 2016 Catherine embarked on what was initially a 6-month adventure to New Zealand, but after meeting a sheep and beef farmer has been here ever since. Catherine enjoys all aspects of mixed practice, in particular calving time and emergency after hours. Outside of work Catherine can be found out on the farm with her young son or out running.

Klara enjoys production and companion animal vetting. I enjoy companion animal soft tissue surgery and working dog pats. On-farm I like learning from farmers and working together on animal health and welfare. Outside of work you will find me scoping out the local cafes.

Siandrae studied and started her working career in South Africa, she made the big jump and has relocated to Pahiatua NZ, with her husband Adrian. They spend most of their down time on their lifestyle block with their young son and 2 dogs. She enjoys being outdoors and loves exploring New Zealand. She grew up with a love for animals and is passionate about working with all types; You will often find her dividing her time between the small animal clinic and out on farm - enjoying anything from vaccinating to a good calving.

Moira has worked in Pahiatua since graduating from Massey, just over 20 years ago. She has a special interest in surgery and an extra soft spot for working dogs.

Companion Animal Veterinarian, Team Leader

Sarah graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London followed by specialist training in equine orthopaedics and surgery. Sarah has an interest in pain management and is trained in veterinary acupuncture and gained a certificate in chronic pain management. She has worked as an equine surgeon and companion animal vet at Massey University whilst completing a PhD in equine tendon healing. She has also worked for herself providing a referral horse performance and pain management service for all species, and has worked for MPI where she gained valuable experience in animal welfare.

Rhiannon graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2022. She then moved to New Zealand from her family home in Wales. Growing up in the south Wales valleys Rhiannon enjoys walking and admiring a good view and is looking forward to finding lots of this in New Zealand. Rhiannon enjoys all aspects of mixed animal vetting with a particular interest in Neurology and emergency and critical care cases.

Jordan joined the Pahiatua team at the beginning of 2023. Jordan comes from the mighty South Island and enjoys spending time on the farm, on her days off she loves a good DIY project or a furniture flip. Being an undercover horse girl, she also spends a lot of time with her two nags. Jordan is looking forward to meeting everyone.

Growing up on a sugarcane and tobacco farm in South Africa, Carmen has always had a love for being outdoors. In 2019, she made the move over to New Zealand with her husband, where she graduated from Massey in 2023. In her free time, she enjoys reading and admiring a good view of the mountains.

Carolyn completed her studies in Australia and shifted to NZ in 2017. She initially worked in Waihi, before joining the Pahiatua clinic in 2023. Carolyn enjoys all aspects of veterinary work, especially the lasting impacts you can make in the lives of both people and pets. In her spare time, she loves to go hiking and explore this amazing country we live in NZ.

Cayleigh graduated from Massey in 2015 and began working in Wanganui for two years. She then moved to Pahiatua in 2017 where she began work as a mixed animal veterinarian. Cayleigh enjoys meeting new people and their pets and getting out and about on farm - she loves the variety that being a mixed animal vet offers.

Meet our Technicians

Sarah wears a few hats at Tararua Vets. She can be found out on farm blood sampling, calf disbudding, vaccinating, teatsealing and assisting our production vet team. When not out on farm she helps out our reception team, and can also be found in the lab faecal egg and spore counting.

Harriet started at the clinic in 2018 as a Small Animal Veterinary Nurse, she has now moved into a Veterinary Technician roll which is where her real passion lies. While mainly working with Large Animals, you may find her dabbling in the Small Animal department at times. She enjoys that every day brings a new challenge from Cattle Scanning in the morning to running Puppy Preschool classes in the afternoons. Away from work Harriet helps run a Dairy and Beef farm with her family and dogs.

Meet our Nurses

Lesley started with Pauli and Woodley Vet Clinic here in Pahiatua in 2000, then made the move to our new purpose built clinic along with Bush Vets in 2003. Her main focus is small animals where surgery is her passion. Along with many other duties, Lesley also does the faecal egg counts. She loves her job as every day is different!

I grew up in the Wairarapa and now live with my family in Eketahuna after my parents sold our family business called Fridgies Fruit Bowl. I spend most of my time outside with my 3 cats and dog as well as walking around the golf course.

Meet our Client Services Team

Jade has been with us at TVS since 2003 so given her experience and wealth of knowledge, it made sense for her to step into the role of clinic manager in 2021. Jade enjoys the variety and challenges that the vet industry provides and values building strong relationships with clients and staff. Jade is no stranger to rural life; she lives on a 5-acre lifestyle block with her family in nearby Woodville where she is kept busy, particularly in spring rearing calves.

Alby has lived in and been a part of the Tararua District for 40 years. After 10 years of dairy farming, he worked as a Technical Field Officer in the rural retail industry, a job he held for 10 years. Alby's role focuses on animal health and providing a service of advice to Tararua Vets' clients.
